ASSOCIATION CELLULE D APPUI FIVOY

Rural young women valorize crop residues on the tanety (hillsides) and charcoal waste in the market to produce green charcoal. These women are organizing to establish a community-based enterprise in the rural area of Ambalavao District, Haute Matsiatra Region. By combining environmental aspects, sustainable energy, and local economy, these women contribute to the preservation of watersheds against bushfires. This is why we valorize the tanety crop residues through cutting and collection. We also manage nurseries for the production of young energy and fruit plants (Eucalyptus, Papaya). These young plants are sold symbolically to members of FIVOY, which comprises 96 grassroots groups. Currently, the main market for our green charcoal is the Ambalavao urban area, including tourist hotels, restaurants, and households. Our current priority is to improve production equipment (grinders, mixers, extruders) so that our products can meet the growing market demand.
